Do you mean congestion charges as there are in London? if so, in my opinion no, all that happens is the traffic is forced to go outside this area or pay £8 per day, this makes this area then becomes congested, once we are at that stage they extend the area so that even more people have to pay, does it reduce congestion? I think not, does it raise more tax for the Councils absolutely yes, would more people use public transport, probably but it would cost them more money than they paid before the charge was bought in and the railways could not cope with the extra passengers anyway, it is already overloaded and none of this money has been used to improve public transport which was the idea in the beginning. I really hope other Cities don't copy this, we drivers are already overcharged as it is.
