Depending on your BF age, her opinion means nothing. Know this, you will never be good enough for her son, but don't take it personally....no one ever will be.

Maybe ask who she does want. Then and only then will it sink in that no one is good enough for her little boy. My mother didn't want me to marry my wife but I did it anyway and have been married for the last 28 years. My wife is now one of her favorite people in the world. The man has to make the choice to cut the apron strings and do what makes him happy, not what makes MOM happy. She had her life and maybe made choices he didn't like, did he have any say so in that? Then your man has to decide whether or not he wants to replace his Mother with a wife. Personally, I find that the intended (you I assume) needs to make great effort to win the future Mother-in-law over.

Mother in laws can be nasty business if they don't approve of you. It isn't their decision wether you marry their son or not but I can tell you they can make things very very miserable in the future.
