When a person is cremated, do they leave their clothes on during the process? It seems like a shameful waste of a good suit!

That really depends on the person involved.

Many crematoriums have a very low-budget option where the corpse is essentially burned in a cardboard box, and you aren't required to dress them at all. Of course most will try and sell you something MUCH more expensive than that - some people are talked into incinerating thousands of dollars worth of coffin as well as whatever personal effects and clothes they've included with the body.

Whether it's a waste or not would depend on who you're asking as well. Some would think of it as an honorarium for the dead, others as throwing good money into a pointless gesture.

YES, The cloths stay on,
My friend was a painter years ago.
He said, he was working at a crematory for a week.
Everyday they had a cremation, he would look into the oven.
This was hours after the burn.
He said, There were some small bones left behind, after they gathered the ashes and boxed them.

That depends on whether or not the family wanted them to have clothes on. If the family didn't bring specific clothes, I put a clean hospital gown on them. But it is all up to the family.
