Nope.
I use my land line as a monitor. I never pick up the land line unless I recognize the caller ID. I still get tons of unsolicited calls and I don't want them to start coming thru on my cell.

The home Phone might end for a few reasons
1)telemarketers have home phone numbers/but not cell numbers, You can however put the number on a do not call list for 5 years at a time.
2)most new phones do not work when the power is out (unless its an old phone, or really basic phone), cell phones have a battery making it ideal for emergencies (tought keep in mind towers can only handle so many calls at a time)
3)Cost of home phones are cheaper for local calls only, but when you factor in coast to coast coverage cell phones out perform (except during weekdays, but who calls long distance on weekdays?) on a per dollar basis.
4)travel, most of us spend less time at home and so always being connected is best.
5)number portablity, you can now transfer your home numebr to a cell number. not having to call everybody you know to give them a new number is so convienent more and more people are doing this.

The only reason poeple (younge people)seem to keep home phones is internet or no coverage of cell phones. DSL lines need a phone line to connect your home to the web and ofcourse dialup needs a phone line. and remeber lots of rural and farm land have no cell coverage.

Hope this helps
