If you dont believe global warming is man made than you can be fired. Regardless of your beliefs is this ok to be banning people who believe a certain way on scientific theory or who have made observations idfferent than your own? I know Bush has probably done this to people who do believe it blah blah blah, please keep it to this particular incident. I dont believe anyone should be silenced or not given work for seeing things a certain way as a scientific professional

"I think that the employer should have the last say about who he does or does not want to employ. "

I agree, but when its a collective effort to not allow anyone in Oregon with dissenting opinion to work there. What if all corporations didnt allow liberals to work there, I know they would be protesting the streets and forget all about "the employer has the last say in who it hires"

I think that the employer should have the last say about who he does or does not want to employ.

EDIT:

A) You have not given any source.
B) If the state or other public institiution is making this a policy then I have a problem with it.
C) If a private institution is doing it, then it is their perogative and you should have no say in their hiring practices.

Does this apply to the entire state of Oregon or to the supervisor of a specific agency? How many people were fired? How did those "unbelievers" get hired in the first place?

Global warming is a complex issue.

Reading the popular media can lead a person to conclude that "global warming" is:
o- either a hoax to promote business opportunities, politicians agenda and scientists grant money.....
OR
o- a problem related to overpopulation, industrialization and fossil fuels whose solution options lie in solar power, wind power, geothermal power and nuclear fusion....

However, the correct answer may be altogether different:

NASA has released never-before-seen images that show the sun's magnetic field is much more turbulent and dynamic than previously known. The international spacecraft Hinode, formerly known as Solar B, took the images. Hinode was launched Sept. 23 to study the sun's magnetic field and its explosive energy. National Aeronautics and Space Administration scientists said the spacecraft's uninterrupted high-resolution observations of the sun are expected to have an impact on solar physics comparable to the Hubble Space Telescope's impact on astronomy. "For the first time, we are now able to make out tiny granules of hot gas that rise and fall in the sun's magnetized atmosphere," said Dick Fisher, director of NASA's Heliophyics Division. "These images will open a new era of study on some of the sun's processes that effect Earth, astronauts, orbiting satellites and the solar system." Hinode is a collaborative mission led by
the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency and includes the European Space Agency and Britain's Particle Physics Astronomy Research
Council. NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Ala., managed the development of the Hinode's scientific instrumentation provided by industry and federal agencies.

>>> as regards alternative energy methods, I favor development of the technology for nuclear fusion using lunar Helium 3

I find it wrong, especially in a liberal state as Oregon. They constantly complain about people supporting their liberal state of mind and to accept what they believe in, but if someone believes in what they don't want, they will have them fired and mocked? I find it wrong. But there have been a lot of scientists lately coming out against global warming. In fact, a month or so ago, the UN have recently stopped some funding for global warming finding there is no actual concrete facts or evidence supporting it. If you think back, each decade had a "natural disaster" that would kill off society as we know it. Acid rain, overpopulation resulting in not having enough food for rest of the world so we would all lose crops and food, now it is global warming. So the firing of scientists who do not believe in global warming is completely out of line. Besides, when you look at all the people who claim they are for global warming, they usually have no credentials or any real education about Earth Science, Climatology, or weather patterns history and modern day. These are the same type of people who ran around saying acid rain and overpopulation is going to kill us off in each separate decades.

If it is fact that global warming is happening, then yes they should be fired. It would be like a mathematician stating that 1+1=3. You keep mentioning "belief" - global warming is fact, not belief. Belief is religion, etc.

I would have to read that, it doesn't sound like I am getting the whole story. It reminds me of pharamacists who refuse to fill birth control prescriptions. yes, if you don't believe in it, that is fine. but you wouldn't be very good at your job if you disagree with the reality of it. no, jobs should not be protected for people's personal beliefs. What's next? Doctors who are faith healers? The integrity of the profession must be protected. How about teachers who disagree with 'no child left behind' ? They still have to deal with it.

No, this is a perfect example of how the liberal left works. They come up with this nonsense then make it illegal to disagree, or disprove their garbage. They do the same thing with God and creationisim, its unconstitutional. And you are correct, Global Warming is a FARCE.

It would be OK to fire a "creation scientist" or "intelligent design scientist" because it is not science. The scientific consensus is that global warming is a problem. Yes.
