there arent really any significant mods you can do to a 928 for 2 grand. Heck, there isnt much at all you can do for 2 grand on a 928.

and if you want to get it to handle better, by far and away the best way is to do improve driving skills. My advice is to join your local branch of the Porsche club of america (pca.org) and do some of their drivers education events. Theyre incredibly fun and will show you things that you and your car can do that you didnt even think were possible.

that 2 grand is a couple track weekends, which will make the car (via the driver mod) way more capable than it would be with 2 grand of mods.

theres a reason the gts was $30,000 more then the s4.... its not going to handle the same or have the same 0-60 for only $2000.
The same modifications for a 2007 porsche gt3 to give you increased performance, can also be done on a 1988 928s4.
The cheapest-WEIGHT REDUCTION
Dump the spare tire, tools, and jack in the hatch. Do you really need carpet and padding in the hatch, or is it just increased weight? Do you need a stereo and speakers?
Increased air flow-
cold air intake, port and polish the intake manifold... forced induction-turbo or sc
increase fuel-
bigger injectors, bigger fuel pump
decrease restrictions in exhaust-
dump the double cat convertors and muffler, port and polish the heads, bigger exhaust pipes, better flowing headers
bigger displacment-
engine swap
dump the current 5.0l and swap it out for the 5.4l.. theres 50hp.
rotational mass-
Smaller wheels, light weight calipers/rotors

youre not going to get the same performance for $2000. It just cant happen. if your willing to spend more, then sure, you could blow by the gts performance.

I think for $2000, you would be dreaming to get performance like the 355HP GTS...

Just sell your S4, and get the GTS...MUCH less cost(to REALLY get there...)

Probably only something like nitrous.

Turbo requires engine speed to kick in, Supercharging it (if possible) is probably more then $2000.00

strip out everything to save the pounds. Put slicks on, and pizza cutters on the front.
