when I removed it, I rented the tool to remove. within that tool kit is a tool to push to balancer in to its position, This is an older engin, small block. The directions say that i should insert 2 specific bolts, and turn a nut to push into place, the two nuts are counterd, you screw one into the other, and the smaller end goes into the place where your bolt should to, only that small piece doesnt come out.

You "should" be able to install the pulley with the pulley bolt.

Pull it back apart, and use the pulley bolt to press the pulley back on.

you shouldnt need a tool to install a harmonic balancer.the crank has a key-way.all you do is slip the balncer on and put the center bolt in andtighten it tight.you might need a tool to remove it,but not to install it.

Most harmonic balancers simply bolt onto the front of the crankshaft...usually...is your very different then that?

when you removed it was it simply bolted on?

(I) have never had to use a tool to put one back on, only to take them off.
