According to Buddhism this variation is due not only to heredity, environment, "nature and nurture," but also to our own karma, or in other words, to the result of our own inherited past actions and our present deeds. We ourselves are responsible for our own deeds, happiness and misery. We build our own hells. We create our own heavens. We are the architects of our own fate. In short we ourselves are our own karma.
So as a person, what are you doing to better yourslef and the country you live in?

Karma constitutes both good and evil. Good gets good. Evil gets evil. Like attracts like. This is the law of Karma.

I tell myself that my future, my destiny is going to be how i shape it to be. I don't want to end my life saying "oh it was because of this, or that", i don't want to be able to put the blame on somebody else.
When i take a decision today, i make sure to tell myself "this is MY decision, and nobody else's". And if i take a decision, i make sure i stick to it.
I also try and define my personality to myself every now and then. I try to figure out my qualities and my flaws, so i can know more about myself, how i would react to this or that situation, to know where i would be more happy, less happy, etc.
As for the country i live in (France), the only way i can make it better is to go and vote. The presidential elections are coming soon, and i am following each candidate, to see which one could make France a better place. I must say that this is all i can do. This, and spread the wisdom.

Well on the personal level, I try to treat people the way I want to be treated if I were in their shoes. For example, I always do my job at best at work. I feel that this commitment pays off in the end in the sense that it satisfies both myself as well as my superiors.
I am constantly looking for ways to enhance my behaviour around people. I am not offended if someone gives me a notice of any sort. I used to in the past, but after years I learned to accept myself the way I am hence gaining more self esteem.
I have learned not to hate anyone since hate is a negative feeling that hurts it the hater himself. I have learned not to take measly things very seriously and go on with life. I have learned to accept others as they are without expecting them to change for me.
As for my country, I do not know what can I or can't I do. I feel I am helpless in that context. I still do not know how much individuals can make a difference if not within an organised institution. The institution is what lacks all of the third world countries.

Like you said Karma is the sum of what you've done, what you're doing and what you'll do...and your own Karma affects your environment's Karma too.
I just live the best life I know how, I don't hurt people or disrespect them, I try to help as much as I can...I raise my kids to be good people...but I'm not perfect and my flaws are sometimes more than my good values...so I hope I can equal things up someday and reach heaven ... :)

Buddhism, like any other religion needed to create incentives for people to be good and explain the inequalities in "luck" in people's lives.
You will find in any religion this detterent to be bad and encouragement to be good.
The only difference with Karma is that your life is the result of other past lives ( reincarnation), you are also apparently born with a little of your parent's karma.
It's interesting...

Well Milo...A very nice question.....
About me as person, I know that since human I'm non perfect, but I try to be better each day. I dunno if I get that, but I do my best. I dont like to irrespect anyone, as I dont like to be irrespected. I dont like to laugh at someone, as I dont like someone laugh at me...in other words, I try not to do to another people what I shouldnt like another people do to me.
I raised my sons in the same way, and i think i have maken a good job.
I know that I have too much to learn and that my life will be not enough for it.
Even, as a person, I know that my work is great to give. I can give what I have learnt to another people, in this case to my students. Each time I had the opportunity for helping needed people according with my possibilities, I have done it. I learn so much from them too. I have always thought that what we do come back to us ..bigger....as much as if it is bad or good. I agree that we build our own hell....or our own heaven.
For my country....I'm educating the future citizens, teaching them the values, the use (not the abuse) of the freedom, how to share, to respect other people's rights as much as their own, and above all to love the country that is giving them education and possibilities to grow up as good persons. (In this country all the education is for free, even the universitary)

Thanks for sharing Milo I was beginning to think you dissappeared! I want u to answer some of my questions too pls take a look ok!!
I only think of karma when someone does me wrong or hurts me badly, I always tell myself they will pay for it. And that normally makes me feel better. And actually I do also believe I got punished when I broke someones heart (sorry yes I have, it was unintentional I swear I didnt mean it)

I learn and educate myself daily. Through education, one can contribute to the society he lives in, by spreading knowldge, openning up businesses to employ people and expanding the wealth.
It is true one makes up his own hell and heaven. You got wisdom, where did you get that all of the sudden? Your prior questions have been of attacking nature and now you wised up? Well good for you and for us.
