I'd make the case for Montana in 1990.

His line: 22 of 29 for 297 yards 5 TDs, 0 INTs.

This game, in which the niners destroyed an overmatched Bronco squad, featured Montana at the zenith of his legendary powers. This was his 3rd MVP and easily could have been his 4th (the year before his receiver, Rice, won MVP) and the best of his incredible Super Bowl performances.

It also had a bit of tragic irony, as Montana would never again play a full season for the Niners before being ignominiously dumped in favor of Young.

Rounding out the top-5 .... Young in 1995, Simms in 1987, Williams in 1988 and Brady in 2004.

...Uh, no Terry C., I don't miss. Montana won 4 super bowls and 3 MVPs, like I wrote above. Just because you're a great CONTRIBUTOR doesn't mean you have anything to teach the experts. Go back to taking notes ...

Tough to say who had the best.

1) I would have to say the 5TD's by Steve Young is a feat that may never be matched and should be ranked as the best. (Although, that Montana performance in 1989 should have been good enough for the MVP.)

2) Phil Simms had a great performance with setting a record for most consecutive completions. Elway had a better game against the Giants in Super Bowl XXI than he did in XXXIII against the Falcons.

3)Tom Brady's performance in Super Bowl 38 was simply amazing, better than his SB 36 performance. But, he had less to work with in that first SB win. (I am somewhat biased being a Patriots fan.)

Honorable Mention:
Kurt Warner was probably the best QB through 1999-2002 in terms of stats, but since dropped off the map.

I personally felt Peyton Manning didn't deserve the MVP and it should have gone to Dominic Rhodes. Rhodes had some very key runs that iced the game late. Oh well, that is my opinion.

By no means am I a Giant fan, but the game that Simms had in 1987. Almost perfect.
Two others that come close were Doug Williams (1988) and Montana (1990).
Just a coincidence that all three happened against Denver.

Kurt Warner has the record for most yards thrown with 414 in XXXIV but Steve Young threw for 6 touchdowns in XXIX. I'd have to go with Young on this one.

Joe Montana and his comeback drive vs. the Bengals
Second would be Steve Young's insane amount of TD's vs. the Chargers

Tom Brady in superbowl 36... i mean going from the 3td qb on the depth chart in preseason (yeah he passed damond huarrd in the preseason) to winning the superbowl.... and what a great finish man... though i think the snowbowl versus the stealers was an even better game
