Hi Robert,
maybe there is some family you can get in touch with to go check on her or visit with her. I'm sure she would find lots of comfort in reading letters from you also.
My mother died 1 1/2 yrs ago and her husband (not my dad) didn't do anything but make her feel like she was being a pain, when she was in pain. although i have family that came to visit her and help her out , i could only see her twice in her last 4 months. i did call her daily and made sure her husb was doing what he should, but he wasn't all what she expected he would be when she became ill..
Try to write and call as much as possible and tell her you love her before you hang up and in every letter. dying is a part of life that we must accept and prepare for. I believe our life is in our own hands.

Oh, to be comforted by the scriptures. Psalms 37:10, 11 righteous will inherit the earth. Revelation 21:3,4 tears, sickness and death will be no more. There will be a resurrection of the righteous and unrighteous. Matthew 5:5 the mild tempered ones will inherit the earth.

I am so sorry. I don't know how much contact you're able to have with her but when you do talk to her, let her talk to you about the situation. All you can really do is say your sorry or you are thinking about her. Is there anyone else around, friend or relative, that can step in for you? Could someone contact hospice? It's their mission to help people through the dying process. Again, I'm so sorry this is happening.

Just tell her to take care of her and not to worry about anything else. Even if it means going to a hospice. She needs to be allowed to be at peace, pain free and with as much dignity as possible. My Mom passed in May and my thoughts are very much with you. There are no pat answers but know we all do the best we can and our loved ones know this.
