Hi

Its probably the water pump leaking. It will be fine until it gets hot then the seal will break and the coolant will leak away as you are driving along, hence no sign of a leak.

Once the engine cools back down the seal regains its integrity and the leak stops.

The other option is the head gasket.

Cheers

hi, you have a small leak between the intake manifold and cylinder head ie slightly blown head.. the coolant is being sucked in in the cylinder and burnt. you can find out which cylinder by comparing the spark plug color. u might even find the plugs wet. use a bars leak in the coolant and that should fix it after 100miles of use. oh and refrain over revs at this point.

Some coolant systems have an overflow such that when the car warms up enough it loses any excess fluid (Overfill) through that overflow pipe such that, once the car cools back down (and the coolant contracts in volume) it looks more 'empty' when it really isn't.

Check to see if it has 'in between' (Most-least) lines on the Coolant bottle.

as already stated the 8 valve citroen peugeot suffer from phorosity in the ports and cracks in the heads. on average 30% fail under pressure test. run the engine to normal temp with test pump on radiator applying 15 psi pressure initially. see if it increases. this will indicate if faulty head gasket is pressurising the cooling system causing coolent loss. or test for ex gasses in coolent.

Change the screw top on the filler - could be a bad seal, and won't cost much.
