I have an 03 impala how do ireset it so i can use my key chain 2 unlock and lock doors and use alarm?

I close the door try 2 lock it wit my key chain wont happen?Try 2 use alarm wont happen. So what do i have 2 do?

take remote off the keychain, sit in car, close all doors, put key in ignition, turn key on, off,on, off on, without starting car, push the remote lock and unlock at the same time holding down the buttons, shortly you will hear the power locks toggle, your remote should work now.
