Is Kenmore still a good name brand appliance?

Question

I am looking into purchasing a new refrigerator and was wonder if Sears' Kenmore was still a good brand? The one I found had everything I was looking and it was still under $900.00.

Any other suggest would be a appreciated. :) Thanks!

I believe they are one of the best. Others may disagree, but every appliance in my home is Kenmore. I find that they have the best warranties and the service is easy to get, if you ever need it at all. I have a refrigerator that is 15 years-old and still works like a charm. I just replaced my washing machine and it was nearly 20. The only reason I bought a new one is because the exterior had begun to rust due to the fact we moved to the coast and my laundry room is basically an old converted porch.

The old adage; 'There's quality in the name', probably no longer applies. So much of this stuff is made in Asia today, probably China, and all they do is manufacture for a half dozen different companies. The only difference then, is the label they put on the product, and I can tell you that a different label goes on the same product. Many so called products are not even made by the label that you are buying. Many have gotten out of the manufacturing business and they simply distribute and sell, but don't manufacture. This has served the Chinese well, because up to now, all they wanted to do was manufacture products. They wanted nothing to do with marketing, distribution, and sales of products. Kenmore is a good name, but for all we know, it's a product put out by LG or some such mass producer.

In the U.S.A., Kenmore is still a good name brand of appliance for refrigerators, as a matter of fact, it's one of the best.

Sears (Kenmore) does not make any of the appliances they sell. They contract with companies that do, and have their contractors attach their Sears nameplates and serial numbers on them. Most of their refrigerators are made by Whirlpool, however I would ask the salesman to make sure who actually made it, if you're buying the Kenmore brand. (e.g. some of Sears Kenmore dishwashers are made my G.E., although most of them are made by Whirlpool)

Stay away from General Electric (G.E.) and Maytag refrigerators.

kenmore name is put on other appliances so make sure to ask the salesman what the refrig is I would go with whirlpool and stay away from GE

sears does not make appliances. they contract with companies that do, and put the kenmore label on it.(and a couple more dollars) you'll find the same unit, if you shop around a little, and it'll be cheaper than the re-badged kenmore.

I hate Sears. Their customer service is non existene. they deliberately make things obsolete so that you;d have to pay extra to get parts. And they are more interested in harrassing you to try to sell you the extended warrantee than the appliance itself.

Do your community a favor. Shop from a local store that's run by the owner. I 'll bet he won't call you for months trying to shove the extended warrantee down your throat.

That always seems ironic to me. You can't get someone to answer a question, but the warrantee salesman calls 3 times a day for 6 months.

I'm going to assume the fridge is new, right? It has everything you want and is still under 9 bills?? Id say its worth it. This is how i look at it. Generally the longer a company has been around , the better their product becomes. At least in most cases. If you have never heard anything that would make you doubt the quality of a product, why question it.
