Administrator, Ivy League university in large city, 9 to 5, for 8 months. I'd like to save more money for a house instead of blowing it on rent. However, if I stay with family, my commute would be at least 2 hrs one way. (I want to save that badly). Instead of 5 regular days/wk, I was thinking 3-4 long days (pushing for 3), plus some hours from home. I was hoping the long commute might also demonstrate my commitment to the job. (wishful thinking?). No roommates for me (bad experiences), family only. I'd still save hundreds more per month even with the commute.

My thought is, "If you can sell it, you can have it." Business is ALL about negotiations. So negotiate. Have a solution for all the objections you can entertain, and then have a back up plan if all that fails.
Think.
That's how I solve a lot of stuff. Just think about it 'till it gels in your mind. And when you are convinced, you will be convincing.
good luck. ps. All of your reasons are sound justifications for an alternative scheduling approval.

It won't hurt to ask. Just go to the HR person and ask how flexible the company is with hours. Or talk to your supervisor very casually about it.
After 8 months, they should have some idea of what sort of work you would provide under those conditions. Don't forget to offer it on a trial period, so they can switch back if they decide it isn't working.

in line with possibility you're able to hold off on moving out until after the toddler is born. That way you are able to shop up some funds to purchase stuff it desires. additionally,i'm a single determine and flow to college. With the student own loan and pell grant,i'm getting sufficient to flow to college and pay my costs for 6mths(5700 each and every 6mths). this is the only way i will flow. If i became you i might shop working until after the toddler is born, then flow out and start up college and optimistically with that funds and your bf's promoting you will make sufficient to pay for each thing and nonetheless have some to take excitement in. it is likewise possible to do instructions on line interior the direction of the college so which you will stay homestead with your baby for a 300 and sixty 5 days.merely a warning...i do no longer understand the place you reside inspite of the undeniable fact that it rather is recommended to call and verify on daycare expenditures suitable now. I stay in Arkansas and daycare for an toddler is $one hundred fifty a week...that's greater desirable than my lease! and that i agree, you will no longer have the ability and you will no longer choose to b/c you will choose to spend time with your toddler. whether you should stay in a 1bdrm,you are able to placed the crib on your room and set up a community interior the front room for the toddler to play. they do no longer want plenty room at that element and whilst they ultimately want the area, daycare would be greater much less costly and you will additionally make up the variation.

It won't hurt to ask.....the worst thing they can say to you is "not right now" or "no" and then you move on and continue with your normal schedule.
