How is it that for some files, it downloads the codec but doesn't play the movie? Sound comes out fine, but just a black screen.

Dude you have to download the correct codecs. Use VLC medai player or power DVD for watch movies.It has more codecs than WMP

You probably need to download a different codec. Find out the correct codec that you need by looking at the information for the video and then search for it on the internet.

I had the same problem before...First off Disable automatic download of Codecs...that's a BAD security risk!
2. Download and install Klite Codec pack full and you should be able to play just about any video format you can think of...

maybe you have downloaded a wrong codec that is why your videos won't play. try to figure out what's the right codec for your player so that you can play your videos.

download VLC MEDIA PLAYER.. it's play's mostly every thing...
