Switch to cloth diapers and rubber pants instead of Pampers.

When she realizes how wet and uncomfortable it is to pee her pants, she'll start using the toilet in no time.

You will have to be prepared to clean up messes.

1. Switch to cloth pants ONLY - no diapers anymore. This way she can feel when she's wet or dirty and will be more aware of the process.
2. Ask her often if she needs to go. Even if she says no, have her sit on the pot periodically. My toddler girl often tells me she "doesn't feel any pee" but as soon as she sits down it comes out.
3. Put two spare sets of cheap sheets on her bed with a waterproof liner between so that if she has an accident during the night you can strip off the first set and liner and have a clean set underneath and she can go right back to bed (and you can too!)
4. If getting her pants wet or dirty is not a good enough deterrant (some finicky kids only need that as a motivation) you will need to find a way to punish her.

My son was a clean freak and so it was enough for him to just feel wet or dirty. He potty trained quickly.

My daughter could care less about pee or poop. She likes to eat dirt for goodness sakes, so dirty pants were no big deal. So everytime she pooped in her pants we put her in the shower to clean her off because she didn't like the overhead spray on her. She would howl and protest but we only had to do that about 4 times and now she NEVER poops in her pants. Mission accomplished!

Potty training methods sometimes need to be "tweaked" a little to match different personalities.

Make a big deal about her being a big girl when she uses the potty. Really go wild every time she uses it. The more enthusiastic you are, the more she'll want to do it again. My daughter was slow to start, so we went cold turkey on her. One day (make sure it's nice and warm), take her outside for the day. Bring the potty, and dress her in underpants and a t-shirt. When she has an accident, get her to the potty as quick as possible. Change her panties and clean her up. It took us the whole day, but she started to catch on by the next day. (We went through 14 pairs of panties!)

Don't use diapers anymore!!! Use pullups or underwear. Use a potty chair (sometimes they're overwhelmed with the "big" potty. ) After meals , when they first wake up and before bed time put the child on "their" potty and be with them for 15-20 minutes. Take along a favorite toy they enjoy so they can relax. Also take them to the potty when you have to go. Once you have a routine stick with it!!! Once the child can potty in the potty or lets you know they have to go potty, positively reward them. If they do have accidents, be patient ..don't yell at them. I had 2 boys that pretty much potty broke themselves. We lived out in the country, when they were playing outside if they had to go they pull their pants down and "whiz" with the wind!!lol

I have a son who we just potty trained and it was a little rough starting out but now he's doing very well. We bought him cool underwear that he loves and hates to get dirty. He actually cried when he had an accident in his Diego undies one day. :-( We tried to really encourage him. We would go to the bathroom with him and clap when he went potty, smile, tell him what a great job he was doing and what a big boy he is now. He really responded well to the praise and excitement from going potty like a big boy! Be patient, she'll get it... Good luck!

Do not make it a big deal.... don't make her. Let her be in the bathroom when mom goes and then when you flush make it a big deal to say bye bye to whats going down like it is fun, wave and say bye and say Mommy's a good girl for using the potty. The less stress you put on the event the less of a power struggle it will be. Sounds a little silly, but I raised 4 babies and they all trained at different times... I never fussed about it and it just happens.

Potty for a Prize. It's really quite simple.
Get some posterboard and draw a graph on it like a calander lable each row like " Yeah I did it " and so forth about 10 rows, let your child pick out one inexpensive toy and cut out a picture of it and put it on the posterboard, get some stickers everytime they go to the bathroom let them put a sticker on the board fill a row and they get the toy they picked out. It took me no time at all using the Potty for a Prize chart.

Elmo's Potty Time is brilliant! Loop it all-day long, and your 3 year old hasn't a chance!
