I was born in the United States, but have Mexican background. When my Grandmother became severely ill, I was pretty much forced to live over there.
So I went to school there for Pre-K, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grade. Thus, everything I learned was in spanish.
When my family finally moved back to Texas, I enrolled in school there. But instead of going to the 4th grade, I was put in 3rd.
This hindered me as well as helped me. Mostly because I did not speak English at all, and I guess my parents thought it best to put me in third grade so I could have an extra year to catch up on what ever I had missed.
Now, I think it has helped me considerably, because now, I am a Junior, and have pretty much mastered the language.

I don't really mind that I had to go to school for thirteen years instead of twelve. That extra year helped me in ways I can't even begin to describe.

Yes, sixth grade. Not really help or harm. Going to a different school for 7th did more for me.

IT HURT ME TREMENDOUSLY - Coming from a foreign country, on my tenth grade, I was placed in the 8th grade because of american arrogance and stupidity - I skipped the 8th grade and was later admitted to the 11th grade in a different state - At end of 11th grade I passed the equivalent of a HiSchool Ed.- I graduated from College in 3 and a half years attending summer school -

So far no. If I was, I would only be benifieted with getting a better concept of the one subject, the rest would just be a waste of time.
