In my opinion the best small SUV would be the Honda CRV or the Toyota RAV4. Best overall rated quality, good warranty, affordable, good mileage ratings.
The worst would be anything GM manufactures. Their small SUV's are all crossovers and get poor mileage (in comparison) and the warranty coverage is full of loopholes.

Toyota's are great because they are very reliable and last forever. They are a little pricer than say, a Honda, but you get what you pay for and in my opinion, its worth the extra dollars. The Rav4 is a great little SUV, it was my first car and I loved it!
I personally really don't like fords.. they tend to fall apart as soon as they hit 100k miles. We had a Ford Escape and it was the biggest pile ever!
Hope this helps!

Honda is by far the best maunfactuer...They have great prices & reliable cars...In fact most Japanese cars are reliable..Thats why they dominate the market here in America....I honda CRV or Pilot would be an excellent small SUV.. You can prob. get a brand new one for $15,000 or less...Stay away from American cars, they are gas guzzlers & look good, but most die within 7 years...

if your looking for dependible, get a honda,or nisson.i hate to say it but foreign is far ahead of american cars.if i was going to get a suv,i would be looking at a forign make, because they will hold up better, but they do eat out faster, because they make them overseas, where they dont have salt and they ship them back here for us.but for relibitity, foreign is the way to go.

My favorite is the new Nissan Maxima...
I sat in a brand new Voltswagen Jetta the other day and it's a piece of crap. The seats were uncomfortable, the controls inside the car just looked weird...I couldn't believe my friend bought that car. It's like he didn't even look inside before he bought it because if he had sat in it, surely he wouldn't have chosen that car!! But to each his own . . .

AMC Pacer. relatively. ^_^ It became an particularly *undesirable* case of functionality over form--attempting too hard to make a small automobile *extremely roomy* and easier to be sure out of. yet in spite of this there have been extremely some *fugly* autos interior the previous due Seventies. i think of my Aunt Diana practically *owned* used variations of each and every final one quicker or later (AMC Javelins are products of crap too). merely asserting. ^_^

had the lot Nissans best for me but any Japanese great.
American German fast nice cars but found there modern engines not as good and dont last long and parts always need replacing. And yes did look after all my cars and all repairs done but again found Japanese better tho still needed parts more expensive but needed replacing a lot less. And engines superior.
