u can never say for sure. My first, when I was checked at 36 wks I as 2-3 cm and 100% effaced. At my 37 wk appt, my doc checked me and I was 6-7cm. Walked over to L&D and my daughter was born within 2 hrs. With my second, I was 2 cm & 50% effaced for about three weeks... When I got to the hospital for a scheduled induction (37wk 5 days), I was at 4 cm and 75% effaced. After a little PIT, my daughter was born about three hrs later. You could walk around for another three (or even 4) weeks at a 2 & 80%.... or u could have your baby tomorrow. It's one of those things that are so unpredictable!

Yes, your child will be arriving soon. If you are having contractions then most hospitals would admit you at this stage unless you or your doctor decide otherwise. If you're not having contractions then don't worry about it.
Your cervix is opened (dilated) 2cm. 10cm is considered complete and is when you can start pushing.
80% effaced means the membranes over the cervix are 80% out of the way. Once you are fully effaced you should dilate much faster.
Stage -1 means the baby's head is 1cm above (inside) the notch on your pelvis. This is a good position for your baby to be in. Means he or she is in position and ready to go.
All of this stuff should have been discussed in the child preparation classes.

Well, I know what soon means to a pregnant woman, so no, it's not soon (enough). But you should make fairly quick progress. What you need to focus on right now is stress reduction. Prepare yourself for what is about to happen.
Within the next few days to two weeks you should be welcoming your baby into this world.

well definately could mean that but you need to get to i think station 4 (which is the negative 1) and the effacement is what took forever for me. and you can be up to 3cm for the last 2 weeks to month of your pregnancy. but do get prepared!

Not neccessarily...I was three centimeters from my 37th week with my second daughter and did not have her until I was induced at the beginning of my 42nd week. Hang in there. I know how uncomfortable it can be...but it does not mean that she or he is comming any time soon.

well you could stay 2 cm for a few more weeks. or you could go tomorrow. the GOOD part is that you are pretty efaced so you SHOULD dialate faster once u go into active labor.
