If you have a CD-RW or DVD-RW drive, a good way might be to put the files you want to transfer onto CD or DVD, and copy them to the other computer that way; then you'd also have a backup copy of the data in case you need it later.

Another method involves using a crossover cable (CAT5) to connect one PC directly to another via their network ports, or use two regular network cables plus a network switch, to plug each PC into the switch so that they're on the network.

Check out the site below for some good tutorials.

Did you get a double ended USB cable? The computers should recognize each other if they are both on. If the computers are connected w/ a router you can setup a network between the two and just copy the files over. If you have xp on them I can try to help you with it...just -e-mail me.

Just USB cables plugged in does nothing. You need a 'migrate' program to tell the computers what you want to do. Some are sold and include the cables and many new computers have the program on their hard drive. If you are transferring to a new computer, check the list of programs for one with the word 'migrate' in it or go to START-SEARCH-FILES & FOLDERS and type in the word 'MIGRATE'. Opening this will start a 'migrate wizard' follow the prompts

actually a USB drive would be a better idea.. they are very cheap and they are plug and play....... they are as cheap as 20 dollars and just plug into one computer drag the file to the flash drive... and plug it into the other one...... Thats the best way to go....
