How can I best give away a bunch of old Grateful Dead tapes to others who can make better use of them? I still love them but only listen to CDs now.

give 'em to someone who will enjoy them. I have probably given out over 100 grateful dead tapes over the years. I used to carry them around in the trunk of my car, and when I'm was out in public I kept one in my pocket. If you had a GD shirt or hat or whatever on, you got one!!! I used to leave them under neath people's windshield wipers who have GD bumper stickers (It happened to me originally and I just kept it going) there is nothing cooler than arriving back to your car to find a new GD bootleg sitting there!!! This is how I go rid of mine, we'll probably be wondering the same thing about our CD's in 20 years ("Man, what am I going to do with these old thing?").
Have fun.

man, you just me thinking. i have probably 150 shows on cassette tape. maxell type 2 audios baby. i haven't had a tape player in years. mainly listen to cd's only. have all the dickpicks and every other official live recording they've released. too tired of trading anymore. the releases they have are good enough. i have traded for some of those dead reunion shows from the mid 2000's. i think what i'll do with my tapes is next time i see a 13 or 14 year old kid walking around with a dead tshirt on, i'll say hey buddy.................go buy a cassette deck and enjoy.

ps it is very very uncool to sell grateful dead bootlegs, tapes or cd's. you can trade em, b and p em or just give them away, but never sell.

Well thats pretty cool of you. Most people would just throw em away.

I'd say your best bet is to stand outside of the next concert that deadheads are likely to show up at. I really don't know much about the band, or which of them are still alive and playing music, but that's what I would do.

eBay if you want to make a profit.

Or try a Library, which may have a music check-out section, or even some charity sort of place that could use the tapes for their clients/patients.
