Well, first off, considering you are a guy, you would have to trust the girl to take the pill everyday, at the same time, and to tell you if she misses one so you can use back up protection.
With perfect use, 2 out of 100 users will get pregnant within a years time. Depending on the girl you are with and her responsibility levels, that can fluxuate if she is the forgetful type. She also will have to tell you if she ever takes any antibiotics.
Honestly, if you want to be responsible, make sure you are wearing a condom, unless you trust her completely.
The only 100% fool proof way to not get pregnant is abstinence. I can state lots of women who have gotten pregnant on the pill- my sister being one of them.
Once again, it depends on how responsible and committed to not being pregnant the woman is. It's very easy for her to stop taking the pill and not tell you.

I've had a rather busy sex-life pre-marriage, and never got pregnant. After I got married, I went off the pill for the first time in years and got pregnant on the first try. So, I'd say it's rather effective, and like previous answers, it's technically 98-99% effective if taken correctly, you should also consider your options. Talk to your ob/gyn about what options they like. Just remember that the patch is off the market, and your ob/gyn should not offer that as an option.
And after looking a little more closely, you're a guy! Don't just trust that your girl is taking the pill, I can't tell you how many times I thought about "forgetting" to take them before I knew better. If you want to protect yourself, the condom is the way to go. On the other hand, if you're married, and ya'll are just waiting, then it is a good option.

Im not sure of the exact percentage but its pretty effective but anything is possible. If you really really really do not want a child I would use a condom along with the pill and remember to take your pill at the same time everyday

If you take the pill everyday at the same time and do not miss any pills they are supposed to be 99.9% effective. But any woman who got pregnant on the pill will tell you otherwise. The only way any form of bc is 100% effective is if you don't have sex! I recommend using the pill and condoms as a back-up.

If taken every day at the same time, about 98-99% effective. But that means one or two people out of 100 get pregnant using it every year. To be extra safe, double up with condoms.

It is 99%+ effective when taken properly. . . the problem is that people forget, forget or do not remember to take it. Another option may be an IUD. I like the idea of going to the doctor once, getting it, then being good to go for up to 5 years. . . also you have the option of getting it take out when you are ready to change diapers. . .
The main problem with "the pill" not unlike driving is. . . human error

My 12 year old daughter was conceived while I was on the pill. To be safe you need to use the pill, condoms & the foam at the same time!

It works very well if you take it properly. It's about 98%-99% effective. It's the most effective besides not having sex at all.
