Hey ya! Go for it! =) I got it done when I was eighteen and I must admit I was super scared - I was like crying and shaking when I was laying on the bed and the woman who did it was like "Hey why are you crying? Look it's done already!" I was so shocked! I hadn't felt a thing!! Was so weird! Afterwards though you will be really aware of what seems to be this HUGE bar though your belly button but it's not painful just odd! =) Once your body gets used to the piercing you hardly notice it and eventually you won't notice it at all! The way they pierce it though is a kinda "Oh my god you are not coming near me with that thing!" moment and I really don't want to put you off but you did ask...... They use a clamp to hold the piece of skin that will be pierced and then (I think! I was crying and shaking by this point!) it's like a gun, as when you get your ears pierced but I may be wrong. I'm just guessing it was a gun cos it was done in seconds and I didn't feel a thing! =)
Like I said go for it! I hope I haven't put you off at all! =) Good Luck!

They look stupid, but hey. They don't hurt. I never got mine done but know people who have had it done. I'm related to a lot of piercers... and I've watched some get done. My cousin got hers done, and it didn't get infected but it took hers like a year to heal because she was allergic to the jewelry, and didn't realize she was. She gained a lot of weight since she got it, and it looks like hell, and I know a woman who got pregnant after she got hers, and she left it in while she was pregnant... needless to say, that looks horrible too. Since you're 17, I'm assuming (and I hope I'm right) that you won't be pregnant for quite a while, so that's not an issue. It might hurt, if you have a low pain tolerance. I got my eyebrow done (let it grow shut though) and the forceps they use to hold ur skin while they shove the needle through is the worst part of it. The pain only lasts a few minutes. They don't numb the area, they sterilize it. Make sure you go to a proper shop, because you don't wanna risk going to a place with dirty needles or any of that.
And yes, it can get infected, but it doesn't mean it will. Just clean it out. It might be sore, but if you don't do it, I can pretty much gaurantee that you'll have problems. You also won't be able to sleep on your stomach for a couple nights.
They don't use a gun... they use a big needle and the needle is hollow so that the fat and skin will go inside the hollow part and be out of the way. They push it through the skin, no guns used.

I was 15 when I got my belly button pierced the first time, it wasn't done by a professional and it was to close to the top and it hurt like heck because it was right around the nerves. Plus, he made me stand up during the process and I got some hot flashes and almost passed out on him. It ended up working its way out because it was to close to the skin.
The second time I got it peirced was about a year later, it was done by a professional and it didn't hurt that bad. She got it in deeper and it looked a lot better. It only got infected once. I ended up having that one for about 2 years then I went to boot and had to take it out.
The peircing process isn't to bad, they have you lay down on the table and they take these like special tongs(they actually hurt worse than the needle. They mark the spot on both sides with a pen where they are going to stick the needle through, they put the medication on you and then take the needle and slip it through, and the same time they are sliding your ring in.
It will hurt for a few days, keep it clean. Be sure you follow the directions they give you on how to take care of it.
It's really up to you what you want to do with your body. Just take care of it if you get it done.

I'm 19 now and got it pierced when i was 15. It doesnt really hurt while its getting done but does more after for a couple months. They pierced mine by shoving a needle through. Mine has never gotten infected. Just make sure to clean it and follow the after care instructions that they will give you.

I've had my belly pierced and i won't lie because it does hurt a little but they do numb the area first, it's the same pain as having your ears pierced but it's your belly and it doesn't last long.
As for it getting infected i was told to use Tea Tree oil which is a natural anticeptic and it worked for me.

I were given mine a year in the past and obviously it hurts, a needle is puncturing your epidermis and slightly of metallic is being inserted interior lol. do not hearken to those who say it would not damage, cuz it does. yet, that's diverse for each body and it oftentimes would not damage like you imagine that's going to- mine damage a touch for some seconds, in spite of the undeniable fact that the soreness wasn't awful and that i'd have dealt with 100x the soreness for this acceptable piercing I now have :) sturdy success, and produce a buddy with you to carry your hand if that enables :) It helped me, I presented 2 of my girlfriends

What do you mean "does it hurt?" YES! Of course it hurts, it's a needle piercing through your skin. It only gets infected if the piercer doesn't do it right or if you don't take care of it. If you don't feel comfortable doing it, then don't.

My girlfriend and my sister has it done. Neither said it hurt, and yes it can get very infected but the person who peirces it will instruct you on how to properly clean and take care of it. Sometimes they never heal, and you might have to take it out.

Yes, lt does hurt. It will onyl get infected if you let it. Keep the piercing clean, and covered until its totally healed and dont really need to wear it all the time.
