You really dont have to do everything in a special order. When I did one I had everyone introduce themselves then we played some games. Two of my favorite are having little clothes pens and everyone starts out with 4 if someone catches someone else says baby they can take that persons pen. Whoever has the most at the end wins a prize. The other is something just kinda cute and fun. While the mommy to be is opening her gifts write down funny things she says. Then once she is done tell her these are things she said the night the baby was conceived. it is really funny! Hope this helps!!

Generally, a few games are played, the gifts are opened and passed around then the cake is cut. Maybe a few dishes of chips, pretzels or chocolate would be on tables around the room for snacking.

Do what ever feels good at the time. I dont think there is an actual schedule.

First of all...HAVE FUN planning the shower. Celebrating baby is a fun and exciting thing!! You'll do fine....

I would say the order should be (let's say the shower starts at 2pm)

2pm -2:20: Mingling and waiting for the guests to arrive. Have a table set up for presents...and the food/beverage already out for people to enjoy.

2:20-3:00: Shower Activities. Games, activities, etc.

3:00-3:30: Dessert and Coffee/Water

3:30-4:00: Present Opening

4:00-4:30: Guests mingle and depart

I have a link on my website for some unique activities at the baby shower...you should check it out. A lot of people will have played the "Old Favorites" dozens of times by this point....wow them with some new activities that will keep it interesting for them!!

Have music playing, low, in the background. Songs like "Wonderful World" (Louis Armstrong), "The Riddle" (Five For Fighting), "I Hope You Dance" (LeAnn Womack), etc. Baby songs that are popular. Make a mix CD with songs like this downloaded off the internet....there are lots of sites where you can purchase just the one song. You can give this to the mommy-to-be at the end of the shower (or keep it for yourself!!).

Have you thought about a diaper cake for the centerpiece at the gift table? This is also a great double-function item....you can use it (in lieu of flowers) and then gift this to the new parents after the shower, too!! I make custom diaper cakes designed to match your shower theme or baby's nursery decor!!

Name Tags.....that are "distinctive". Have these made up with first name and the relationship of that person to the new baby. (Baby's Aunt, Mommy's Friend, Daddy's Ex-Girlfriend (ha ha just kidding), Granny, etc.) This way people automatically know the relationship and don't have to worry about remembering the names of 15 people they JUST met!! Make them distinctive by creating them yourself with plain white labels and then elaborating them on your PC. Decorate the labels with baby icons and clipart!!

Hope this helped......I bet you knock their socks off!! (I put the link to my Shower Activity page below....)

((By the way....in my personal opinion the "don't say baby" game is kind of DONE. I, personally, want to say baby at the shower. I want to CELEBRATE BABY and TALK ABOUT BABY and TELL MOMMY HOW MUCH I WANT TO MEET THE BABY. I don't want to be punished for saying the one thing I am at the shower to do...talk about the baby!! This is my own personal opinion...but I think there are some better activities out there.)

first you eat, play some games, then open gifts. at least every shower i have been to and the one i had for me was like this.

a lot of people are not so into games...
what my mom and mother in law did was put numbers on the bottom of the plates that they ate on and then pulled 5 numbers out and whoever had those numbers got a prize. in this case the prizes were the centerpieces (flowers in cute pots). also a good gift to the guests are booboo bunnies. you make them out of wash clothes there should be a wesite that shows how its really easy and really cute!

There's lots of fun stuff to do. I you want a lot of fun - make a diaper cake. That's where you take diapers and roll them up together to make a three tiered cake.

Roll each layer and tie a ribbon around it to keep it secure. Each time you add another layer around the last one, tie it off with a ribbon. You can make a really good sized three-layer cake for only a couple of bulk packages of diapers.

Useful for the new parents too!!!
