Why do we hate him? Let me count the ways.......
1. He is pompous. He acts as though he is the greatest player of all time, although it is clear that a number of factors contribute to his susbtantial statistics, most of them having little to with his talent (though he is talented). He is the beneficiary of live ball era (especially in the late 90's and early 00's), expansion (weaker pitching), bandbox stadiums, Human Growth Hormone, Steroids, and who knows whatever chemical supplements not intended for human use.
2. He is mean spirited. His coldness with the fans and media is lengendary.
3. He is a heel. Who but an enormous heel would allow a friend to go to prison several times for protecting him from his perjury before the grand jury? Allowing a friend to take the rap is wrong, though he rationalizes it by perhaps paying off his friend in some way to keep his mouth shut.
4. He likely is a criminal. He likely committed perjury before the grand jury.
5. He is a prima donna. He asks for and receives special treatment in the clubhouse and from the team generally. Doesn't he have his own secluded area in the clubhouse?
6. He is a rotten teammate. He cares more about himself than his team. His talk is always about his own statistics and his place in history. His teams stink, but that doesn't seem to bother him very much.
7. I think he is a cheater. See #1 above. His cheating is beyond the scope of normal, traditional baseball cheating (spitballs, scuffed balls, corked bats, etc.). His goes to the integrity of the game by incorporating illegal and improper substances.
8. He is a destroyer of the game's integrity and undermine the sacred tradition of the baseball record books. Because of #7, his records are meaningless, but they nevertheless undermine the record book, because unless stricken by Baseball, they will be in the books. They should not be. He cheated, he cheated, he cheated. His records mock the records of real players, like Aaron, Ruth, Mays, etc.
9. He contributes to the general moral decline of our age. (See ##1-8.)
10. He is a bad role model. (See ##1-9.)
I am sure I could think of more, but that's a start.

Me too the problem is that people listen to the media too much. Before the steriods allegations after the 70hrs season he was still an all star who won at least one MVP. In fact he was making more defensive plays than after the allegations. McGuire never had big numbers like Bonds infact if McGuire has more strike outs than hrs for his career. Besides his hrs his career stats is similiar to guess who JOSE CONSECO. BONDS DESERVES TO GO INTO THE HALL OF FAME, until someone can prove beyond a reasonable doubt that he did in fact used steriods. And please dont give the weak argument that he's bigger now because most players can wieght when the get older. Yes he does talk but he backs it up at the plate. He made the Giants a better team and no one can deny that, without him they wud not have made it to the World Series PERIOD.

Everyone hates him b/c he's not giving into the media and doesnt trust them as far as he can throw them. Bonds is the greatest baseball player ever and the sooner people, including the media figure that out, the better off the world will be. He can still hit the ball like any other player regardless if he used steriods, which is a another story. He needs to be left alone so he can make baseball history!!!!

Back at ASU, people hated him because he wasn't a team player. He always felt like he was better than everyone else. He started juicing because he was jealous of McGwire and Sosa who were both also juicing.
Now, he is a big headed ugly guy with a shriveled manhood, but he can hit the long ball. I think he has been punished enough.
The reason people want him to retire is because Hank Aaron was the epitome of class. Bonds is not and does not deserve a record.

I agree...I haven't seen any proof, just a bunch of hot heads running with the pack of jackels howling about their own, dark, conclusions.
Geesh...how many other big hitters have come forward in barry's defense and admitted THEY too have taken steroids? I'm sure there's a lot of those players are out there, but they remain silent.
The fact is that steroid use is rampant in American sports today, which is terribly sad. But to take one player and put him on the chopping block for the mistakes of others is just as sad.

He's a cheater. That and the fact that he may break Hank Aaron's record. He doesn't deserve to be in the record books for the same reason they didn't vote Mark McGwire into the Hall of Fame. Plus, he's a arrogant a$$hole that none of his teammates like. He wasn't one of the greatest all around players till he started juicing. Even now he's not, his defense sucks. The only thing he's got going for him is he can hit homers. He can't get base hits if they don't go over the fence.

How can I put this without offending you...............WAKE UP!! Pull your head out of you butt. Cheating is cheating is cheating!! People have to stop justifying everything this low life does. Do you think for a minute he really cares what any of us think??? Please!!! Stop the madness!!! I'm sick of this Bonds crap and wish it would just go away!! No true baseball fan will ever recognize anything he does. Hell, the "so called" commissioner isn't even planning to attend the "record breaker".
The bottom line is that most every fan of baseball will still recognize Roger Maris as the single season home run champ and Henry Aaron as the career home run champ. Bonds is a soon to be convicted felon. End of the freakin' story!!!!!

Well, steriods are a whole different story. Strength enhanchers are against the law (i think) and is a most definite disgrace to baseball. Sure Drysdale cheated but it's different than steriods .

Luv him, he's a super baseball participant. he will in all probability beat Babe Ruth's checklist sooner or later (optimistically). And if he would not, then 2d place isn't a undesirable place to be in. Oh, and if Bonds says he did no longer take steroids, then he did no longer. Why won't be able to we basically help the guy?

Because he straight up took something to put on 50 pounds of muscle in 4 months and then ripped the homerun record while being all juiced up.Really who cares because he took the record from a steroid freak to begin with.In short I do not think the booze and cigars used with the spit balls of old even compare to shoving needles in your ****.744 will stand in my mind for a long time.
