Ok, this is not an easy question to answer. The short answer is no, they will not. The division is too strong, perhaps the strongest in baseball.
The long answer deals with the fact that anybody CAN win 80 games. The Royals have some good young talent in Alex Gordon and Mark Teahen. They also have Zach Grienke coming back from his personal issues. I beleive they drafted Luke Hochevar last year, and he hasn't pitched for a year, but supposedly has great stuff. Also, a healthy, productive Mike Sweeney wouldn't hurt. So, the long answer would be that they will win EVENTUALLY 80+ games...

I'm a huge Royals fan and I have to say that they are getting better, but I don't think 80 wins this season would be a reasonable expectation. I'm sure they won't lose 100 games again. I think somewhere in the 70-75 win range is where they will end up.

The Royals are a team on the upward thrust and apparently like they could nicely be more beneficial useful in the up coming years. i actually do no longer have self assurance that their lack of potential is their significant issue in spite of the undeniable fact that. at the same time as that's real they're lacking potential (ninety 9 homeruns) basically look on the Angels (118 homeruns) who may be the finest team in baseball. The Angels are also lacking potential yet they have each thing else and they're a winner. A prevailing team begins with pitching and the Royals have a sturdy youthful pitcher in Brian Bannister yet he will favor some help, he won't be able to do it on my own. Royals administration is going to ought to dedicate to putting at the same time a prevailing team and be keen to spend some money on gamers that could actually help to lead them to aggressive. Alex Gordon, Teahen, and Butler are a sturdy start up yet they favor a lot more beneficial.

This year, no way. They play in the best division in baseball, the AL Central, which is far too good for them to win eighty games. They will have to compete on a regular basis with four legitimate World Series contenders, Chicago White Sox, Detroit Tigers, Minnesota Twins, and Cleveland Indians.

Give them a few years, competing against good teams usually makes your team better. In two or three seasons, they may be able to put together a team that can win eighty games.

I'm not sure the Royals will win 80 games this year and next year combined. That franchise is a major rebuilding project right now.

No chance. Absolutely None.

It is all about pitching in baseball. The Royals bullpen has gaping holes in it from front to back and their rotation is as poor as any team this side of the Washington Nationals.

2008 may be a different story with a potential rotation of: Meche, Greinke, Hochevar, Bannister, and De La Rosa.

But in 2007: Set the over/under at 69 and take the under.

Sorry friend.

Someone who knows nothing about the game, would be the correct answer. They play too many games against the strong division they are in. If they were in the AL West - possibly. But nott in the Central or the East.

Alex Gordon for Rookie of the Year!

Go Royals.

They won 62 games last year and their closer blew 31 saves. The offense is going to be MUCH better this year IF they stay healthy. I highly doubt Dotel is going to blow 31 saves, the way he is throwing the ball. 75-87 is a more reasonable expectation.
