Statisically speaking if you define the middle of the night as between 12:00 midnite and I:00 AM, only 1/24 of the smoke detectors will have their batteries fail during that period of time. If yours always fail at that time and that's when you replace them: try changing them at noon instead.

Generally, it's cooler at night. Battery efficeincy declines in cooler temperatures, making night the most likely time for lower voltages - and the beeping.

Because they cant see in the dark !!. Check your alarms batteries and that isn't going to happen
