This would suggest that you might have some spyware and viruses on your computer... I would suggest either getting antivirus software like Norton 2007 and spyware protection... some free alternatives would be.....
For Viruses...
AVG
For spyware:
Spybot Search and Destroy
Firewall:
Zone Alarm
either get some software for it or back up your personal files and just reformat your computer... if you have a windows cd just turn off your computer... enter the cd first.... and just follorw your instructions... and just call microsoft for an activation key... and they hand those out like nothing... hope this helps

clean the crappy files from the registry ... i.e., set the registry back to the way it was when you installed windows
Reduce the number for processes running in the background ...kill some threads urself
or the easiest way is to reduce the number to the required ... by only keeping the programs that you need during the startup ... and clean all other files that automatically start when you turn on your computer

My site below under Computer Talk has a section for Optimizing your Systems performance. I agree with running adware/spyware checkers as well and you can get a free one at http://companion.yahoo.com I would also recommend running your anti-virus. If you don't have one visit http://free.grisft.com for a free copy of AVG which works great. Hope this helps

there are so many reasons you are having this problem... could be a hardware problem, but a more common problem might be that you have some spyware in your system that is using up your computer's resources, hence it is too slow. try scanning your computer (if ur antivirus would still run) and see if you got viruses or spywares...

You could have numerous problems, but first of all, download Lavasoft Ad-Aware and run it on your computer to get rid of Spyware. http://www.lavasoftusa.com/products/select_your_product.php
Choose the free download and follow the instructions. It will find malware and ask if you want to fix the problem. Say yes. That may help speed it up somewhat.
