Joey Porter should get some attention for the good he does Did all of you haters know that he has a daughter with autism? He raised a lot of money in Pittsburgh for families of children with autism that don't have the means of providing the constant care needed for them. He said that he has the means but not everyone is as fortunate as he is. I for one already miss him not only on the field but off. PLEASE RESPOND!!!!

Anytime someone famous like him does something bad it will always overshadow all of the good they have done. Unfortunately the public eats that kind of stuff up and it is what sells. For whatever reason people don't care to hear all of the good stories. It is a shame.

I see that a lot of respondents think that because Joey Porter donates to charities and has a daughter with autism, this should negate all the bad things he has done. As a professional athelete, Porter is in the spotlight and his conduct on and off the field is under a microscope. His actions in a Las Vegas casino and getting shot only make him a bigger target on the field. His constant rants, including his threats of a holdout last season, only take away from his talent and outstanding play on the field. If he could only harness his emotions and only use them in games, he would be much better off. I wish him luck and only hope that his current off field troubles do not effect his play in the years to come. Good Luck Joey and Go Steelers!

As they say in the journalism field, "if it bleeds (Levi Jones' face), it leads." The media will rarely say anything about the good an athlete does (unless it's a very overrated quarterback, but that's another story), but if it's something negative, they will jump all over it.

But Joey is a professional, rumor has it that it started when Jones said something about Peezy's dogs. If that's true, then Joey should have risen above it. What on earth does Levi Jones have that Joey doesn't? A big mouth? (No!) A shiny Super Bowl Ring? (Not so much.) An inappropriate new contract for $32 mil with $20 mil guaranteed? (Don't think so!) Joey wears his heart on his sleeve, and everyone knows it, but he should learn to control his temper.

Cheers!

EDIT: The more I think about it, the Bungle probably DID have it coming...

Haters? Well personally i respect hi as a very talented football player but his attitude could use a major adjustment. Good he does with autistic children, that is very compendable, i have family with autism that still doesnt mean he isnt a jerk. Wow he is a jerk that has done good, what about all the trouble he has caused? What about him getting himself in the sitaution where he was shot? That was great for his team. What about getting in a fight and assaulting another NFL player? They guy talked some trash yes, but hey Porter is known for his trash talking so he aught to be able to take a little trash talk. He is a great talent, if he weren't such a ahole and source of trouble I would lov ehim on my team. The problem is he will always be an ahole and a thug.

Joey Porter is the man. On KDKA he said he'll be a Steeler until he dies and has no hard feelings. It is blatantly obvious that he was just demonstrating this by showing Steeler supremacy over the bungals once again in Vegas.

hate to tell you this, but hes also a huge trash talker, which is why he might spend the next season in jail (for those of you who dont know, he punched out a Bengal O-Line man outside of a casino in Las Vegas.)

yes he does good stuff OFF the field, but its what he does on the field that determines his pay.

in short: his bark is worse than his bite

Just about every player in the NFL has some sort of charity organization. Some do it for personal reasons, some do it for other reasons, some just do it for tax purposes. That doesn't make him a great person. The day he donates 100% of his salary (millions!) to the cause, then I might have to reavaluate my perception of him. Until then, he is a guy with a serious attitude problem (seems to work for his career though).

I think joey is an awesome player that plays with a ton of heart. He does need to know his limits with everything emotional just to keep the spotlight off him, but thats his personality and I love every min of it. he is an exciting player to watch.

I don't care what he did outside of the field, I like him as a player, he really got the guys into the spirit before games and t-off the other players on the team. I had no complaints.

He punched a guy in the Bengals in the face at a blackjack table in Vegas. His play on the field isnt nearly good enough to backup all the s--t he talks.
