I believe it was. Reason being cause had that been anywhere else with a heavy populated white area it would have drawn more attention. I dont harbor the thought of those dams being blown up and all that but i do harbor neglect. We were aware the storm was coming and we were aware of the weak points that needed to be repaired and nothing was done and the result lives were lost. Had it been an upscale white neighborhood it would not have happened.
As far as race in my life, I am more than a conquerer so i dont allow it to exist in my life. I do what i want when i want, knowledge is power. Seek and you shall find, knock and it will open ask and it will be answered.

I think that racism is rampant in America. I think the evidence is on YA!!
When I lived in the Southwest, racism was a part of my life. I was one of very few white kids in my school. Kids made fun of me for having freckles and they called me "powder," and used to talk about me in Spanish to each other.
As a result, I would never wish that upon ANYONE, EVER!
But, when I was 13, we moved to MN and a suburb at that. The particular school I went to had very little (if any) race issues. We probably had 15% minorities and they were mainly Hmong and a few Blacks... and example of how virtually non-existant racism was in our school, in my Senior year we were discussing racism in class and we had a girl that was half Chineese and another who was Black. The girl that was half Chineese said that she had never experienced racism and the Black girl said she'd never experienced racism from a White person. I was a Senior on 9-11-01 and there was an Islamic Center in the town. I know they were vandalized shortly after, but there was a huge outcry from the town about this and police protection was given to the Center, but it was never needed. No other threat or anything was ever displayed against them. (at least until I moved away)
HOWEVER, the high school my little sister went to was MUCH different! Racism was a big problem. While it was even further from the city, it was much larger and much more diverse. The joke amonst some of our friends is that while some schools are known for a certain sport or their drama club, her school is known for it's Racism... not a rap to be proud of, for sure. At her school, I think it wasn't just skin color, either. There was a large Russian population and I know that they had a lot of problems.
So, those are just some of my own life examples. I'm not sure if that's what you're lookin' for or not. Sorry about the novel.

I don't know about the New Orleans thing, I didn't like that they wanted it to be a "chocolate city", that's a bit racist...Everyone else in the country knew a storm was coming, but they didn't evacuate...
But in my own life: I am white and my husband is black. Some people on the street give us dirty looks, but it is usually from young black women.
We have a son and it's amazing that even old white men stop and talk baby talk to him and tell us how beautiful he is. I would never think that would happen. Maybe the world is changing a little bit.

New Orleans was NOT a race thing. New Orleans was a screw up from the beginning, in my opinion. People were told to evacuate and they did not - Many people there simply waited for the government to do something for them rather than take charge of their own lives. Yes, the local government was corrupt, yes, it could have done something for the idiots who didn't go when told to, but as far as it having anything to do with race...absoutely ridiculous.

confident, racism and prejudices nonetheless exist and it impacts each and every team, black , white, hispanic, asian, etc. Sexism additionally exists and in my opinion is an even bigger problem that this u . s . faces. besides the fact that there are people who won't vote for Obama because of the fact of his race, there are various others who look previous race whilst choosing the subsequent president, or in the different problem. based on #3, if Obama needs Hillary's supporters, he desires to cajole them. The democratic conventional has merely ended; many Hillary supporters are disillusioned suitable now, yet given a while, they are going to vote for Barack Obama because of the fact they understand that the alternative decision might merely be greater of an identical politics.

You know I don't think it was so much a race thing rather than a poverty level issue. I think that if a disaster like Hurricane Katrina happened somewhere else where the majority of people are wealthy or important somehow to the government that the reaction would have been much faster...I definitely noticed the late reaction but I really don't think it was on race.
