This is my 6th month ttc, usually after me and my husband have sex, I go straight to the bathroom to try to prevent getting a uti, but this month, I've just stayed laying down for 20-30 minutes after sex, has anyone else tried this and found that it worked?

It helps to know when you are ovulating. Then you only have to lay down 2-3 days a month, instead of every time you have sex.

I find it immensely helpful to know when I am ovulating, so I chart my basal body temps and my cervical fluid. http://www.fertilityfriend.com offers free charting as well as a tutorial and series of lessons to help you understand your fertility signs.

It can help to let the sperm stay inside a while longer, but even when you urinate, some stay behind. You'll have to weigh the pros and cons to that. UTIs are no fun, as I'm sure you know. If you do stay in bed a while, tilt your pelvis up to keep it all in.

Do you have a regular period? If you do, it's best to keep track to when you ovulate to have a better chance of conception. If you don't know how, you can use the predictor sticks or take your temp daily, record it, and on the days it's higher (usually one or two per month) then you're usually ovulating.

Another option is to take bcps for two or three months, never having a period (you may have breakthrough bleeding, but this is not a period) by skipping the placebos and taking the next pack. After two or three months, go off for your period, then afterward, you will usually ovulate for sure. This is a way of forcing your body.

Good luck, and be patient. It will happen, in one way or another.

it is better to lay down for about 20 min after sex. Then go to the bathroom.

Remember it takes the average couple 8 months to a year to get pregnant and each month there is only a 25% chance of getting pregnant IF everything lines up properly.

Good luck.
