O.K My girlfriend broke up with me 2 weeks ago. She gave pretty feeble excuses, and we had been dating for a year. I had no contact whatsoever with her, until she asked the other day if i would mind going for a drink with her as friends. I went along...we just argued...and she spent the whole time telling me about a guy friend she met up wiv 4 1st time in 3yr...i stupidly admitted i loved her, and said that this whole friends thing wasnt working, and i walked out of the room. Since, I get texts saying how hurtful she was, sorry,& could we be friends.i ignored her.she then asks my friends have they seen me today cos she's worried about me!Anyway, yest i had enough,& textd her back saying that she hurt me 2much & to leave me alone,i said u've moved on,so should i.anyway, she replied saying she still has feelings 4me,& misses parts of our relationship, but doesnt want to date again.i agreed to meet her 4drink 2moro, and have now backed out..she said she was naive 2 think friends would work

You answered your own question - move on.

Besides, if she really wants you back, seeing you with your next girlfriend will drive her crazy with jealousy!

You have done the right thing, yes. I am sorry that she is self-centered and thinks freindship is a good idea so soon (especially since you have strong feelings for her). She was not naive, she needed someone to talk to and she knows your a good listener. She needs you for your wisdom, and this is selfish. Keep your head up and just do your thing. You don't have to be freinds with every girl you've had a romantic relationship with anyway. How would your future Miss Right like it if your exes were texting you all the time? Look for the girl that wants to love you and honor you. She is out there somewhere! Good luck!

Cut it off. What she wants is for her to move on but for you to stay stuck on her. SHe wants to be able to play the field and keep you at home waiting for her. What you need to do is move on. You can talk to her on the phone or text messages (always be in a good mood) so that she knows that you are not at home waiting for her to call. If she texts you or calls you answer her the next day. Then say sorry you didnt get back you were out with some friends. As soon as she sees that you are moving on it will prompt her to make a decision on whether she really wants to let you go. Just dont wait for her calls. Let her come find you....and when she calls, let her wait for a response.

Well, if you truly don't think it would work out to just be friends then yes, you did the right thing. Easier to rip off the bandage in one quick tear than to ease it off... she obviously still cares about you, but not to the degree that you would like so there's really no sense in faking it. Maybe after some time has passed you two could hook up as friends again, but not yet. Too soon, raw feelings.

yeh, I'm gonna have to say your did. With the residual feelings you both still have, friendship is gonna be tough. Maybe after some time passes you two may be able to see each other as friends, or even attempt to give it another try. But yeh, I don't think you should have agreed to met up with her at this point.....good luck, man. I know how tough it is to try to get over someone when there are strong feeling involved

Some people drag you along until they have their heads straight without even realizing it. I see that in your description, but could be wrong. It is hard to make a relationship a good one after it has had some hard knocks. Hurtful words seem to cause triggers at unexpected times. I won't say what I think you should do, but encourage you to weigh my words against reality and the fiction of a good relationship. You are worth it!

It sounds to me like she wants to have her cake and to eat it too.

She wants to have this new guy and you for a backup. This is a horrible place to be in. You will be hurting because you still have feelings for her. She will have this other guy and have you to complain to about this other guy. It might also lead to her wanting to use you for an f-buddy on the side.

I have been in this situation. It sucks.

You did the right thing. Write her off and move on. It will save you a lot of emotional abuse.

Sounds like what she wants and what you want are different. she wants to move on and date other guys, while being just friends with you, you are in love and can't stand to see or hear about her with other guys. For your own sanity, you are doing the right thing, in this case, it seems best to end it all, friends and everything and move on yourself.
good luck

You did the right thing. Only you know how much your heart can take and you shouldn't let her pressure you to be friends when you know that's more than you can handle.

She's playing with your head. dump your phone and stay away from her or she'll drag you around for another couple of months. You might want to fill the void so hang around other girls.
