If he doesn't meet your needs then sell him to someone who will love him and enjoy him. Don't just keep him like a collectable item. You'll get over him, especially knowing he went to a good home. Besides, you'll be busy with your new horse.

Can you afford to keep two horses? If not, and you are desperate for one you can ride, then yes, sell the shetland. It will be better for both of you in the long run, plus you'll have a bit of spare cash for the new horse. But make sure you find a good home for your old pony, perhaps put him out on loan with a view to sell then you can be absolutely sure he's with the right people and that you're happy with your desicion

If you are too big to ride him, then you should sell him so that another young person can enjoy him and learn from him. If you keep him and he doesn't get ridden or exercised, it won't be best for him in the long run.

When selling a animal you must frist think of who to? If you realy want one to ride go to your local farm or animal house and be a volunteer!

he may be worth keeping if you plan on buying a horse so he can have a turnout buddy. If you board or there is other horses for a new horse to buddy up with then sell him.

No that is his home and he deserves to stay. You are, after all, his adopted family. Your parents don't part with you when they want another child do they? Keep him please.
