Because trees are green, and people simplify things too much.

Well, most things in our natural world are green (trees, grass, plants, frogs, lizards, etc.), so this is why green is associated with environment. As beautiful as purple is, it is already associated with royalty (for them rich folk) and it also signifies healing (tribal nations).

Well....trees grass bushes plants, alot of things in nature are green. So i guess thats what they went with....why would it be purple?
