my 1st doc appt. was yesterday, i am about 12 weeks and she said my uterus was to big to be just 12 weeks. puzzled as i was i said what does that mean she said the weeks could be wrong but i know my conception date was dec. 28th 2006 so there could only be a week there and she said well it could be two WHOA! i said twins she said we'll do an ultrasound tomorrow to find out so if anyone has anything to happen to them like this share your stories with me or tell me if you had twins or not thanks.

I went into the doctor and he told me I was too big to be 12 weeks as well. I told him I knew the exact day I got pregnant and it was twelve weeks ago. He sent me in for the ultrasound a week later.

As the technician started scanning my uterus, he said, "Oh yeah, there is more than one in there."

I got pretty upset and yelled, " What do you mean more than one? How many are in there?" He quickly soothed me with the reply, "Only two, only two." The rest, as they say is history.

I have not had this happen to me,but me aunt has.She is kind of older and did not expect to have kids. When she went to the doctor they basically said the same thing. They told her that her uterus was a little to large to only be so many weeks pregnant. They waited about a week to so the ultrasound and that's when she found out that she was going to have twins. Now she has two little boy [she waited her whole life for boys] Kurt and Christopher. They are not identical but the do look very much the same.My aunt tried three times to have a boy and all three times she got girls so she is very happy.Congratulations to you and your partner.Good luck.

When I went in at 12 weeks I was told the same thing. I measured bigger then my gestational age because I was not the "perfect weight" when I got pregnant nor was I underweight. I remember my Dr checking me and asking me how far along I was I told him "12 weeks" he said your measuring 14 weeks unless there are two in there. Even if there were 2 in there they would be so small at 12 weeks it really wouldnt push your measurements up that high. I had a single birth thank goodness since my family has a history of multiple births.

Dont stress, Just wait for the doctor to let you know, every woman is different, my mother had twins and dont even start showing until late in the 4th month. Your doctor using a ultrasound will definitely let u know that answer.

Congratulations, but your uterus could be big as well. I know I measured larger than I was for awhile.
