You need to let her go & concentrate on finding other friends. So what if the people you hang around with are considered geeks? As long as they are good true friends it shouldn't matter what label they have.

Try making new friends. You may be surprised that people do not look at you and think that you are geekish. You should not make friends because you like the way they look. The so called 'geekish people' are normal human beings the same as you. Just because they don't conform to the usual stereo type, this will not make them a good friend!

well--first of all stop being so judgmental--you're calling the others geekish people? Well maybe that's what the popular group is calling you...Be open to new friendships--and your so-called best mate--well--she chose to become close to the others and to let you go by the side--so face realities--she likes you but she's more into the others--instead of judging others--try to make new friends--not just with those you think of as popular--but with everyone--be yourself--be open adn nice--otherwise--if you only decide to be friends with popular types--you wil have no one if they suddenly decide you are geekish too...

it is kind of sad when that happens...
well, as you grow older, it's natural that you and your friend would start changing interests and might even go different ways. however, if you're sure of your friendship, it's often worth holding on to.
the thing is, sometimes in friendship, when it comes to the real thing, you got to learn to make sacrifices. there are times when the connection may not be two-way anymore. especially in cases of best friends, it's hard to maintain that status especially nowadays. however, if you truly value your friendship, sometimes it doesn't matter whether or not the person seems as active as you in terms of connection. sometimes, just doing your part is enough. i guess that's why true friendship is pretty rare but totally worth it.
it's natural that you'd miss being best mates. however, as a friend, you got to understand your friend's freedom to choose what she wants to be a part of. be grateful that you still are friends. most likely, if your friendship's tight, it wouldn't matter if you hang out with different people. the fact remains that the two of you are friends and that you are holding on because you know your friendship is worth it.

Can't I am afraid. Only you can do that. Be more social and outgoing and be a friend. Do not expect people to flock to you, you have to give something too.
