It means just one room in a house or a bigger apartment that you share with other people. My daughter paid 120 euro a week for a single room until recently; now she is renting a small self contained bedsit for a little more. Single rooms can be any price in Dublin, depending on the facilitiies and the location. Generally, you get what you pay for. a lease is also usually for one year, although you CAN get six month leases if you are lucky. you can get single rooms cheaply enough, but expect to pay anything from 80 euro a week upwards. If you want something really cheap, look on the noticeboards in colleges and hospitals, ad also local supermarkets and the library. The daily newspapers are also good, but everybody reads those, and there are always more people than rooms.
also check with friends and use the local websites too.www.nest.ie is a good local site.
