Marvel or DC?

I think Marvel is a little more "realistic" (or tries to be), while DC tends to tap more into the imagination. Both are a form of modern day mythology; Marvel concentrates more on the characters' inner struggles, while DC heroes tend to look more mythic and larger than life.

For instance, there seems like there's more of an alien/cosmic presence in DC, while Marvel tries to emulate "real life" a little bit more. Doesn't mean realistic is better- All Star Superman is even -less- realistic than regular DC, and it's the best comic being published right now.

I can't really pick one over the other, but I do know that as far as individual stories go for me, DC tends to top the list (Batman: Year One, The Dark Knight Returns) and DC tops Marvel when it comes to animated series'. However, my favorite character is probably Spider-Man (Superman a close second, followed by Batman) and I -love- getting my hands on Silver Age Marvel stories.

Why don't you just ask which parent do you like more.

I love Marvel's storylines in the 70's, But DC's art! Then the fact that both artists and writers kept switching back and forth. Then along comes the 80's and now DC is trying to do Marvel storylines and Marvel is trying to have DC art. And somewhere in there they go off and let all the independents start up! I blame the Turtles!

Marvel they have way better stoylines and the heroes are not to strong, although Batman is a DC character and he's my fav, Marvel has the better movies: Spiderman, Blade(first 2 thrid was crap), X-men, and Fanstatic Four, and DC's movies the new Batman was good DC relies mainly on there two popular characters Batman and Superman so Marvel I like the most but since they Killed Captian America I might have to stop reading marvel comics

Marvel is way better. In DC the heroes are way to strong and over powered. for example superman is the strongest in DC and he can lift up a mountain with his pinky. Marvel has the Hulk as the strongest and he can lift a truck barley. Fastest guy in DC is the Flash and he is faster than the speed of light. Quicksilver is the fastest in Marvel and he can go faster than a fastest car.

I like DC a lot more. Mostly because Batman is the greatest. Marvel is too colorful and full of radioactive gamma rays for me. I don't really like "superpowers" either, so that kinda ruins Marvel.

Both my boyfriend and I prefer marvel comics. However another good comic book publishing company is Sirius. Read their Poison Elves stuff sometime.
