As a Muslim-American myself:

Why would you set a deadline to pull our troops out? All this is saying is "Hey, if you terrorists can hold out until X date, we'll leave you alone." Don't you guys realize that just because we stop fighting them, doesn't mean they won't stop fighting us? A war is two-sided. Just because we want an end to it, doesn't mean that our enemies do.

Do we need to end this war and get our troops the hell out of there? Yes.
Do we need to set a deadline for this to happen? No.

We need to see this war through to completion, which will happen when there is a peace treaty between the radical Islamic groups and the rest of the world.

As-salaamu 'alaykum - Peace be upon you

The conflict it incredibly is happening now does no longer be moving into had we no longer invaded. Iraqi factions does no longer be killing one yet another if the U. S. hadn't unilaterally desperate to enforce UN sanctions without a UN mandate. That pronounced, we've a duty to "fix what we broke" to paraphrase Colin Powell. the subject is the placement would not look getting from now on advantageous. issues would look to settle down for a on a similar time as yet then the cost of violence will develop returned. i ask your self whether the presence people forces there is only throwing gas on the hearth. if so then we would desire to be certain if we are extremely doing any good in Iraq or would desire to we withdraw and permit the Iraqi's settle it themselves with constrained US help. interior the top, the only concern that concerns, given each little thing it incredibly is befell, is what's ultimate for the Iraqi's.

I think you have to understand this war has now become a war between the different fractions in Iraq the government they now have cannot control what is happening in their own country so how can we yes we can stay and keep having bloodshed of our troops who that whole country does not want their in the first place or we can get out and let some one try to talk to the different fractions but I don't think it will help When we pull out of course should not be advertised this is just politics trying to do something about the mess Bush has us in We will not pull out until it is safe for our troops so it doesn't make any difference what date is made to pull out.

If we set a deadline, then if the government of Iraq is a legitimate government, they will have a date that they will know they will have to have it together because they will no longer be dependent on us. Just who is OUR enemy in Iraq? Seems to me there is a Civil War and neither side wants us to be involved. I agree we need a peace treaty. How are we ever going to get a peace treaty if we refuse to negotiate? Maybe Bush needs a deadline, so he can learn there's more to ending a war than just throwing more troops at it.

You'll find this interesting: I'm a Democrat and a Muslim.

My problem is this: You cannot win this war militarily, it can only be done politically and EVERYONE understands that.
Yet we still want to keep them there till forever?

This war was unjustified in the beginning and now we have to clean it up. But this doesn't happen by throwing more troops at it. Everytime an innocent civilian is killed by American troops you have created an "insurgent". If a foreign invading force came to America and killed my family members I would pickup a gun and shoot back.

Finally, the idea of non-Muslims killing Muslims with the support of my tax dollars is disgusting. Politicize it all you want, but that is a fact that NONE of us can deny.

The only way a peace will happen where the Iraqi locals, as a nation, have any hope of being better off than before the coalition entered their country is to have the world press instead of instigating violence, challenge them to create a prosperous country. T.E. Lawrence of Lawrence of Arabia envisioned a prosperous region. They need to grow into his vision be being less tribal. The past injustices can never be fixed one can only go forward to create wealth for the country & the individuals.

This is just a ploy for the Democrats to try to win the election 08 which any nitwit can clearly see. They want to stand on the fence and not take a side in fear that if they choose the wrong side, they may lose the election. The leaders of the party are just like their registered voters, they think only about themselves and what will help them get voted into office as opposed to doing the right thing for the US and that region to help stabilize it.

They are assuming that they will win the election in '08. Although the data today says differently but things can change. if they keep the propaganda that Bush and all Republicans are warmongers yatti, yatti. they do not want to fight this fight so if we can get out before they "take over" then they will look better. Mrs. Bill Clinton said the words herself. If GWB does not have our troops out by the time I'm elected president, I will. Mrs Bill Clinton, also said she wanted to talk, to chat.... come talk to me Hilary.

Rumsfailed said this war would last 6 weeks to a couple of months. Or, do you simply give a free pass to administration officials?

I agree, and I lean more towards the left than I do the right. I was completely against the war in Iraq when we started, however, we're there now and that country is in turmoil. We need to fix our mistake before we leave.

Even if they set a deadline, I don't think they can get out of there with the country in peace. Bush really f--ed up this time!
He angered Iraquis' even more. Don't be surprised if something bad comes our way!
Has there been peace in Israel? NO! Treaties have been enacted but never have they experienced peace. What makes people think that it will magically happen in Iraq?
