I have found 2 different legacies linking to WW1, American legacy and the legacy of peace. I think the one you are refering to would be the legacy of peace, but I have enclosed links to both of them so you can work out which one is more appropriate

Pas-de-Calais is still the most appallingly dull place in Europe (if not the Western world) and still generates feelings of "yes, all they could have done here was fight a miserable, four-year mud-battle" especially as you're going up and down the E-roads, wondering why on earth you bothered going there for the weekend. Oh, and it gives elderly British men something to go and cry over once a year. If you want to be academic about it, you could say that the Versailles Conference set the stage for WWII (by forcing Germany into a humiliating disarmament which was just waiting for someone like Hitler to come along and change) and also for the present mess in the Gulf, after the Middle East was carved up by the British and French (behaving badly and trying to get it all for themselves) and the Americans (who, for once concerning that area, actually behaved well - or at least, Woodrow Wilson did - and struggled to get the Arabs some independence).

Hello,
This was regarded by the powers that were at the time to be " The War to end all Wars" The powers were wrong! and the War that would make England a country fit for heroes to live in, and the powers were wrong again! Millions of lives were lost, and all those heroes had nowhere to live but in the Heavens of their own Gods. such was the lagacy of World War one, and a Man called General Douglas Haig was responsible for most of those Britsh fatalities, mostly due to his own ineptitude, and politicians lies, and the common man and his brothers and neighbours believing those lies. This world is a much safer place without the likes of him, waging War wherever he went. the only aspect of any notable cause was the aspect hat if you were called up to go and fight, you had almost no chance of returning home to you loved ones.
Try world wars.com you should pick something up there, good luck,
I hope you never have to go to war, its murder out there..... Stay safe...................Tony M
