i have set myself up as a painter/ decorator/handyman.
work is coming in and i do provide estimates for free but its difficult to gauge how much to charge.
initially i thought £120 per day, 7 hours work.
but
am i pricing myself out of the jobs?
i work in rural settings in the westcountry.
what have you paid for decorating work?

You need to consider several things, Firstly what you need to live on, then there are your costs, running a van, public liability insurance, tools etc. Try working all these out then see what the market will bare, IE what others charge and so on, Then you can see whether you're OK or whether you need to work faster or charge more.
You can't go wrong if you work hard and do a good clean job.

PS I had a painter he charged £100 per day and I supplied the paint. (in the west country).

I recently had my house decorated and the charge apeared to be £100 per room. Good idea to visit the client before giving an estimate.

£8/10 per hour until you get your self established then think about putting a price on the future jobs that you do
