It will depend what region of the country you live in. Some grasses are for the north, some for the south.

Tall fescues mixed with cultivars of bluegrass that are adapted for shade would do well...if you're not in the deep south.

All I can grow in a wet shady area is moss! I'm in Zone 7a. I tried sod but it drowned!

I live in the midwest. Zoysia grass does well in my semi shady backyard.
