My pc spontaneously restarted it's self yesterday then would only come up in safe mode. I did a system restore(windows ME) and that fixed it but I was trying to locate the cause.
All I can find is a device manager conflict with my mouse port.
It reads Code 15 under the general tab and under the resourses tab it reads interrupt request 12
The pc shows a standard ps/2 port mouse with no problems and it also shows a ps/2 compatable mouse port which is where the problem conflict it.
the pc only has one mouse port.
any answers?

IRQ 12 or "Interrrupt Request 12" is the default setting for a PS/2 mouse. That is nothing to worry about. An IRQ setting just tells the computer what piece of hardware gets what priority in interrupting the bus lines.

Most likely the issue is that some other device is attempting to use IRQ 12 at the same time as the mouse port.

Another thing is it could be using the same I/O range as your mouse.

Really all you can do is go through the list of devices and find out which one is using the same resources as your mouse port and set them to a different configuration. Usually, it will be the last thing that you installed on the computer.
