No, Pamida is not quite like Walmart or Target relative to its number of stores and huge inventories.
I do not know how department stores are rated but I would classify Pamida a level below Walmart and similar outlets perhaps more like Big Lots-Odd Lots or Ocean lots.
Pamida, and the latter two mentioned, sell a great deal of refurbished goods and over runs of factory lots as well as inventory from businesses whose inventory is auctioned off for various reasons.
The quality of products at Pamida is every bit as good as products sold at upper level stores and their prices are fantastically lower whether you buy clothing, housegoods, food or electronics.

I think of Pamida as better than Walmart, and, with their improvements over the past year, gaining some ground on Target. Last time I was in a Pamida store, I saw big HDTV televisions showing DirecTV. In years past I may have seen refurbished tvs. Those seem to be gone. In clothing, I see major strides and the selection reflects current trends and good quality merchandise. Since we have a new baby, most of our shopping that day was in their baby shop (new addition to the store??)
I live in a really small town, and don't get to Pamida that often. But I like their new upgrades and I'll be back.
