I'm all for charity. I'm all for raising money for charity. When the final total appeared on the screen though I felt empty inside when I considered what it represented: Small change. So many people involved in comic relief, so many people giving up there time and resources and that's what we've got to show for it. Coins down the sofa of our great nation. I'd be thoroughly underwhelmed if I was hungry in Africa. £40,000,000. A premiership transfer? £40,000,000. A couple of fighter planes? £40,000,000. Half a brand new apartment overlooking Hyde Park? £40,000,000. Some of the performers on comic relief are worth that much. It's time we asked those in power to dip into their pockets and pull out the cancellation slips for third world debt. Otherwise the red nose is pointless and no ones laughing.

No its not the best we can do but you have to look at it this way if you go to Africa you're seen as special and will probably be greeted with a feast containing most of the food in the village but you are so special to them they don't care if they starve thats what comic relief is about and some of those do dip there hands in their pockets but its the ones that don't make the rest of the look as if they're not contributing

i don't wish to condemn what you have said but as i see it £40.000.000 is a pretty solid figure and I'm sure a lot of people will benefit but doesn't it enter your mind there are a lot of genuine British people who could do with a comic relief help out who right at this moment are so hard up they are wondering just what the hell they can get for their next meal Charity begins at home you would do well to help the people out i have just mentioned i think just £Im would be heaven to these folk
