What should i wear for a reception in an embassy?

Ok, so im invited to this reception thing in an embassy along with 7 other people and their parents', and aloooooot of other people who i dont really know.. What should i wear? Pants or a dress? hair up or down? What colors?please help! Thankyou so much in advance! xx

wear a FORMAL dress, tea length or floor length. pants are NOT acceptable regardless of what other people may do. wear shoes that are dressy but comfortable.

if your hair is long enough to support an up-do, get one in a classic but elegant style.

stick with classic pastel colors or cool tones. avoid extremely bright or outlandish colors. minimize jewelry and bling for the evening. if you take your cell phone, turn the ringer OFF.

subdued make-up is also appropriate.

i have no clue what you are supposed to wear to a thing like that but if i was you i would play it safe and wear a dress. a semi nice but not fancy dress sandals maybe that have a small heel so there not flip flops but not full out heels, and hair part up part down. a little bit of make-up. that is what i would do if i was in your situation. try calling the other people who you know that are going and see what there planning on wearing. good luck and have fun.
