Manchester United have a global fan base consisting of millions and millions of people. Man City supporters are those who either live near the stadium and don't want to get attacked or their family supports them so they don't have a choice but secretly support United because of their success and they know City never has and NEVER WILL win a trophy!

as a manchester lass born and bred it is roughly 50/50 in the city. All my family is red but in the pubs and clubs it is even. Also, unlike fairy tales that are spun, the reds and blues fans get on in the city. a group of friends will have both supporters and when the derby is on it's a good atmosphere in the pubs with friendly banter.
Mind u though, i did turn down tickets to an oasis concert once because it was at main road (city's old ground)

Just too give you an idea. The most watched club match in the world, is Liverpool v Manure. Over a billion people watch those matches worldwide. Nobody watches Man City matches, unless there's absolutely nothing else on the telly.
