Hemoglobin 7

I m a family medicine and alternative medicine doctor and I would ask this: The real question is why is it 7?? Does she eat that poorly? If she has one nuritional deficiency she likely has others.
Sounds like a diet change is needed, no pop or fruit juices with sweeteners only 100% real fruit juices and milk and water. I have several excellent supplements that I recommend for "poor eaters" and children that avoid meats.

Herbs: Herbalists consider nettle (Urtica dioica) as a nutritious plant source of iron, as well as vitamin C, chlorophyll, and other minerals, and is an effective supplement in the treatment of iron-deficiency anemia. Other herbs that are also good are alfalfa, bilberry, cherry, dandelion, goldenseal, grape skins (only organic, as others are loaded with chemicals), hawthorn berry, mullein, Oregon grape root, pau d'arco, red raspberry, shepherd's purse, and yellow dock. Mothers can profit from drinking Rooibos tea during pregnancy and breast feeding when the baby's iron levels are likely to become depleted. Do not take goldenseal or Oregon grape root during pregnancy, and use only under supervision if there is a history of cardiovascular disease, diabetes, or glaucoma.

Highest levels: Food that contain the highest iron content (over 5 mg per average serving) are: kidney and pinto beans, liver (eat only from organically raised animals; otherwise, it will contain all the toxic waste the animal has stored), blackstrap molasses, rice bran, raw beet greens (but not the roots), mustard greens, lentils, dried peaches (organic only), and prune juice.
Email me for a convenient source for these supplements.

Iron rich food : spinach, green leafy vegetables..in general good all round diet and nutrition will go a long way. Her HB being 7 is quite low and would indicate that there may be an underlying cause to the decreased hemoglobin. Further treatment can be advised once the cause is determined.

The normal range for hemoglobin varies by age but your daughter's is low for all age groups. A decreased level occurs with anemias (there are other types besides iron-deficiency anemia), cancers, kidney diseases, excess IV fluids and Hodgkin's. You should be speaking to her doctor to find out what is causing this and what to do about it. The treatment depends on the cause and the treatment for low hemoglobin isn't automatically iron supplement or iron-rich foods if she doesn't have iron-deficiency anemia.

What I don't understand is with such a low hemoglobin, her doctor must have spoken to you already. You have a Hgb level, therefore she had blood drawn. She's already been seen by a physician. Why are you asking Yahoo! Answers this question instead of her doctor???

Well I've got a dog weighing just under a kilo (About 1.6 pounds) who eats raw meat; skin; organs; feather; bone for foods. What's there not to understand? As far as the bacteria goes I don't see the problem as A) They're bodies are better designed to destroy the stuff and B) If yo're really worried freeze the food first (also if you make a big batch and freeze it in separate containers it's easier also) and then defrost and feed, that'got to kill some of the bacteria.

PLEASE get that child to the doctor a specialest while she can still be helped with out serious perminant damage. She should be hospitalized if it goes any lower.
Then you can help her recover with the foods and natural suppliments that have already been expressed in other posts here.
