I'm 13 and am trying to use tampons for the first time. I was getting nauseous when I was trying to insert the tampon, but that stopped. Now, whenever I get the tampon in, it slides back out! I think that I might be putting it in the wrong opening, but whenever I try to put it in up higher, it won't move at all. I don't want to keep trying to force it into a hole that won't let the tampon in because its making me sore down there, but I REALLY want to use tampons! Does anyone know why it won't go in and does anyone have any tips on getting it in there and making it stay? Thanks in advance!

I'm using the playtex gentle glide, and although I've got a pretty heavy flow, I'm using the regular size. It does have a plastic applicator.

it shouldnt slide out. are you using an applicator? look at the instructions again, just use the applicator and push it in

if you still cant do it, maybe you need to ask a doctor or gynecologist to demonstrate

You can't put the tampon in the wrong opening unless you are trying to insert it into your rectum. It won't fit in the urethra.

You may be using a tampon that is the wrong size or style for your body. If you are using one with an applicator that may also be the problem. Try OB tampons -- no applicator.

Have your Mom help you for the first time. Once you get the hang of it, it's a breeze. You need to relax to insert it -- don't tense up. The most comfortable position is probably sitting on the toilet. You will feel resistance when you try to insert the tampon -- that's natural. The tampon will go all the way in, about the length of your index finger. You want it to fit snuggly in the back of your vaginal canal. The only thing showing will be the string (for removal). If your tampon is slipping out, you are not inserting it far enough. Once it is in, you should not be able to feel it (after you get used to the sensation).

However, always be sure to change your tampon frequently and never sleep overnight with one in you. Use pads for overnight.

The same thing happened to me when I was 14 and tried to use tampons for the 1st time.
It was the most painful, uncomfortable experience, and boy was i sore! I felt the darn thing just rawing me every time I walked. So I did not wear one again until I had my son at 19.
That is all I use now.

Are you using the tampons with the soft applicator for easy glide? There is only one place that goes and no where else, make sure you insert the applicator all the way in and push the tampon out. If it won't let you, then yes consult your Dr.
He/she should be able to help you because I had a friend who started using tampons at 10 but she went to her doctor.
Make sure you are using the tampons for teens.

When using a tampon, especially for the first time, you want to make sure that you have the right absorbancy level. Sometimes, if you're using a "light" it may be a little small or on the opposit side, if you're trying to use a "heavy" it may be too big.

I've found that Tampax Pearls are the easiest to insert. You'll probably want to get a "regular" box. They come with a yellow strip across the box. There are directions inserted in the box that tell you exactly how to insert the tampon for correct fit and comfort. It may take a few times and a little practice but you'll get the hang of it and you'll never want to wear a bulky pad again.

Good luck.

Hey, there is only ONE opening. I had the same problem as a teenager. You just have to relax. It is pretty frickin weird having a piece of cotton in your body, but try and relax. They are very convenient and keeps it from getting messy. Look at the diagram and study it well. If it falls out maybe you need a bigger size. Our bodies are all different. So experiment with that. Good luck!

I think you should wait until you are a little older, let's say about 15. Ask your mom how to use it, unless she doesn't want you to. Using tampons are very serious, read up on TSS before you start it and make sure you are comfortable with using it.

Good luck!

try using a bigger size. also trying asking an older women who is close to you. Never ask the internet questions like this because alot of weird ppl will tell you wrong stuff to humer themselves...trust me. Iv seen questions like this before and people answered with remarks likes "try putting two in at once!" that is a bad idea by the way

honey not to sound gross but its because you've never put anything in there before.. the area is probably very enclosed and tight.. give it time.. try using small tampons for awhile and see how that goes.. thats the best advice i can come up with!! goodluck!!! =]
