8 - 10 divided by -3 - 4.

Equals 0.29 or 2/7.

Slope is most usually expressed as the fraction "rise/run" (we say rise over run)

Rise is given by the vertical change between two points, and run is given by the horizontal change between two points. To find how something has changed, we need to find the difference between the starting and ending points, and whenever we see the word DIFFERENCE in math, we automatically think of SUBTRACTION. So we need to subtract the 'y' values to find the vertical change (rise) and we need to subtract the 'x' values to find the horizontal change (run).

For example, find the slope of the line passing through (3 , 5) and (-9 , 11)

So, mathematically we would write:

m = (y - y) / (x - x) -> m is the letter used for slope

then we substitute our values from the two points into the equation to get:

m = (11 - 5) / (-9 - 3)

now we just have to solve

m = 6 / (-12) -> which reduces to
= -(1 / 2)

so the slope of the line is -(1/2); a negative slope meaning that for every RISE of 1 units, the line goes to the LEFT 2 units.

Hopefully this will help you with your own question - do the same thing, just with your numbers.

Let points A( 4,10 ) and B( -3,8 ) .

General be A( x1,y1 ) B( x2,y2)
Slope S of AB = ( y2-y1 ) / ( x2-x1 )

Slope calculated by above formulae: ( 8-10 ) / ( -3-4 ) = (-2/-7)

Hence the slope is 2/7 .

m= Y2-Y1 / X2-X1

m=10-8 / 4+3 = 2/7

That might help you once, but I would recommend you read this and be able to figure it out in the future.

Hopefully you can figure out what they did in the formulas and copy that from now on. the second and third answers used M = (Y1-Y2) / (X1-X2) as opposed to the first answer, but gave you the same answer.
order of operations, you need the quotes for the formula to be right.

(y2-y1)/(x2-x1)

(8-10)/(-3-4)

-2/(-7

2/7
